Bartlett NH
The town of Bartlett NH is named for Dr. Josiah Bartlett of Kingston, the first chief executive to bear the name governor,
a representative to the Continental Congress, and one of three signers of the Declaration of Independence from New Hampshire.
Dr. Bartlett was second to sign the Declaration, placing his signature directly underneath the well-known signature of John Hancock.

For those not acquainted with Bartlett, The Town is divided into several sub-communities and areas that in their entirety are The Town of Bartlett.
Beginning at the west is The Upper Village, which is most notable for the Josiah Bartlett School.
The Village was once dominated by the Railroad and most of its
population depended on it for their lively-hood. The Village in
those days had several restaurants, bars, a movie theatre, hotel
and lodgings, a hardware store, several grocery stores and
many other commercial activities. By contrast, it is a elatively peaceful village today.
Rogers Crossing might be considered the entrance to The Upper
Village area. Back in those days Harry Rogers use to graze
milking cows in the fields from this point up to about where Sky
Valley is today.
