Candle Melts or Tart Warmers

Candle melts, are a great way to reuse those last tiny bits of your scented candles. Give them as gifts or keep them for yourself.

Scent is one of the biggest memory triggers. It can set the mood or change the tone of your whole day.

For those times when you may not want an open flame, use candle melts, to add that special scentsation to any space.

Tart warmers are one of the best ways to fill a room with fragrance. A tart warmer melts a small piece of fragranced wax called a wax tart or fragrance melts at a low temperature. The pool of melting wax distributes fragrance throughout the room. In most cases a tart warmer will put out more fragrance than a candle.

2. Melt your candle pieces in a double boiler

3. Spoon or pour melted wax into your candy molds

4. Wait until wax has firmed up enough to move

5. Slide into the freezer until firm (approximately 20 minutes)

6. Remove from the freezer and turn your candy molds over to remove your candle melts

IF YOU ARE MAKING YOUR THEM FROM SCRATCH, HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

-Soy wax flakes or bees wax

-Essential Oils for scenting, approximately 1 oz. for every 8 oz. of melted wax gives a nice scent, add or decrease this amount depending on how strong or mild a scent you prefer (mix only complementary scents)

-A double boiler

-Plastic candy mold trays

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Melt your soy wax or bees wax in a double boiler

2. Add your essential oil(s) and stir

3. Spoon or pour melted wax into your candy molds

4. Wait until wax has firmed up enough to move

5. Slide into the freezer until firm (approximately 20 minutes)

6. Remove from the freezer and turn your candy molds over to remove your candle melts.

USING THEM:

Put them in a zip lock back and then wrap them in a decorative cloth sachet and use them in your linen cabinet or cloths drawer, or in your car as an air freshener. (The zip lock bag keeps the wax off your clothes in the event it melts, keep these sachets out of the sun.)

Melt them in a oil diffuser dish over a tea light.

They can even be used in a heat resistant dish (one that says oven safe on the bottom) on your heater or wood stove. With this method it is always best to put your dish on the heat source before it is hot to allow it to heat up gradually and prevent cracking the dish.

You should never leave tart warmer un-attended or any where small children or pets may come in contact with the hot wax.
