Metal Embossing

TOOLS YOU WILL NEED FOR METAL EMBOSSING:

*Mat or soft foam

*Tape

*A stencil or some other patter to trace

*Stylus

*Metal embossing sheet

DIRECTIONS:

1. Decide on the design you would like then lay it onto the metal embossing sheet and tape it down to keep it from slipping. Lay it on a mat or a piece of foam underneath the two layers to cushion them.

2. Using your stylus, trace all the lines of your pattern. This will leave an image onto the metal sheet. Once finished, remove the tape and the paper.

3. Use your stylus again and go over the lines again to deepen them.

4. Turn your sheet now over. This is the backside.

Continue to leave the foam under your project while doing the next steps.

5. Take any smooth rounded object and rub in between the indented lines. This makes the piece dimensional. You may also use smaller objects as well. Make sure not to touch the lines with your object.

6. A crochet hook or a stylus with a larger ball is also helpful for getting into smallest areas of your design.

7. When finished, cut your design out and turn over to the right side. Use your window paint to now fill in the areas. Again, avoid the lines.

8. Continue filling the areas with the first color until all of the spaces are finished.

9. Change colors as necessary to fill in any other areas.

10. When finished, let the piece dry overnight. When wet, it looks milky, but dries clear.
