Homemade Reeces Cups

Make some chocolate from scratch and then use that to make your own Reeces Cups.

Chocolate is basically a combination of cocoa solids, sugar, milk, and vanilla.

INGREDIENTS:

Chocolate Candy:

3 cups sugar

3 cups milk

5 tablespoons cocoa

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon vanilla

DIRECTIONS:

Combine the sugar, milk, and cocoa in a saucepan and bring it to the boil while stirring. Boil until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage at 234-240 degrees F.

Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla until mixture is creamy. Pour onto a buttered tray and allow to cool. Cut into squares and store in an airtight container.



REECES CUPS:

INGREDIENTS:

1 (16 0z.) jar peanut butter

1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs

1 stick butter

1 box (10 oz.) powdered sugar

DIRECTIONS:

Mix above together, if too dry add more peanut butter.

Dip in chocolate or paint candy mold and then put mold into freezer for a few minutes.

Add above mixture.

Put more chocolate on top.

Place molds with candy back into freezer until candy is hard and releases easily from mold.





DARK CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

1 2/3 cups dark chocolate, chips or pieces

6 tablespoons whipping cream (reduce to 1/4 c. if adding liqueur)

1 tablespoon cold butter or margarine, cut into pieces

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup chopped nuts, toffee, powdered sugar, or cocoa powder

DIRECTIONS:

Place chocolate in a bowl and set aside. Heat whipping cream over medium heat until steaming, stirring constantly. Pour over chocolate and let set covered for 5 minutes.

Uncover and mix well until smooth. Add butter and vanilla and stir through.

Chill for about 1-2 hours until firm enough to form into balls. Form 1" balls and roll in desired topping.
