Just north of Bartlett on Route 302 West you'll find
Bretton Woods
New Hampshire's largest ski area. With 434 acres, including 101 trails and glades, as well as four terrain parks! Ten lifts, including four high-speed quads, make your ride up the mountain almost as fun as the ride down. Voted "Top 5 in the East for Weather" for 4 years in a row, if there's snow falling, chances are they've got it - or can make it with snowmaking on 92% of their trails. And, because you'll want to stay on our slopes until after dark, we also offer night skiing and riding. Bretton Woods also offers Tubing. Fly down our sculpted tubing run for a thrill ride perfect for the whole family. With packed powder made for speed you'll want to attack the hills again and again. Laugh it up as you spin, glide and slide down our fun runs. Go solo down the run or grab someone else for a tandem ride where you'll pick up even more speed. And the best part is - you don't need any experience, special skills or lessons. Just rent one of our tubes and let the fun begin.
Take Route 302 East to the Junction of 16, turn left on Route 16 and head north to the picturesque town of Jackson, where you will find a fun mountain for the whole family at
Black Mountain.
Known for its family friendly atmosphere, terrain for all abilities, sunny southern exposure and protection from the winds, Black has been a favorite choice since 1935. One of only a few of its kind in our country, Black is family owned and operated and proudly offers an atmosphere that is quite pleasantly different. At Black you will not experience massive crowds, long lift lines and shuttles from multiple parking lots. You will experience a day on the slopes that finds you amongst friendly folks, incredible views, and wooded trails and glades that seem to have almost become extinct. There mountainside is still so pristine that it is not even uncommon to catch a glimpse of wildlife as part of your day. In addition to their extremely affordable lift tickets and rental equipment, they offer adults a learn to ski package that includes a 90 minute lesson for FREE, and a very reasonably priced cafeteria and pub menu. Black Mountain has often been referred to as 'a hidden gem' up in the hills of Jackson, a quaint New England town that is home to beautiful historic inns, cozy restaurants and taverns, live local music, horse drawn sleigh rides, ice skating ponds and winter festivals.
For some great scenery and a little more of a challenge, continue North on Route 16 into Pinkham Notch where you'll find
Wildcat Mountian
